Testimonial:

I have been a ballet professional and educator in universities and companies in the U.S. and recently am switching to the Pilates world, but still would like to be involved in dance. I came across Tamara Di Tella by reference. I have been searching for some type of Pilates that would really be associated with dance, and this I mean with music, too. I think Tangolates is a great concept! Congrats!!!

My dad was a doctor before he passed away, and to hear that this method was conceptualized to help Parkinson's patients made me gain so much respect for Tamara Di Tella philosophy.I thought Pilates Courses in the United States was my answer. I did the intensive mat and reformer teacher training courses, but having had dance since I was 12 years old (now I am 48), performing, teaching and choreographing, I have some void in me left after taking those workshops.

I think that it is great that there is now Tangolates in the United States. I would love to be an ambassador for the Tamara Di Tella Method. I would love to start my business.I am a ballet professor in University of Massachusetts, Ballet Mistress in Ballet Memphis, Principal Dancer of Ballet Philippines, Artistic Director or Ballet Lubbock in Texas and a choreographer; I really think that Tangolates is the gateway to my legacy and my desire to give a little bit back to humanity. Tangolates is a wonderful Method.

"In my opinion, The
TAMARA DI TELLA'S METHOD
is one of the hot new methods that is truly innovative and creative, because its contributions not only add a variation on the same theme,
but consists of very substantial changes (and challenges),  to an already excellent method (pilates) incorporating the cardio element, which is a fundamental variation,
to say the least"

NEW FORMATS, PROGRAMS, AND EQUIPMENT KEEP THINGS EXCITING
By Patricia Glynn

For some Fitness enthusiasts, Pilates is just one of many fitness regimens. For others, though, it's an art, a precise science, a transformational study of movement. But, regardless of the phrases used to describe it, one thing is certain Pilates, in a word, works - for clubs and members alike.
Thanks to its unquestioned effectiveness, demonstrated over a period of more than 90 years, and to constant improvements, upgrades, and imaginative new variations on the original theme, Pilates remains an ideal protocol for attracting, engaging, and retaining members.

A hemisphere away, an innovator, Tamara Di Tella, has married Pilates and Argentina's national dance, the tango, to create Tangolates. Pilates first made a name for itself when it was embraced by professional dancers, and Di Tella seems to be resurrecting history. Tangolates is offered at her five Pilates’ studios in Buenos Aires and elsewhere in Argentina, and is licensed for use atsome 50 clubs in 12 other countries worldwide.

Thanks to its unquestioned effectiveness, demonstrated over a period of more than 90 years, and to constant improvements, upgrades, and imaginative new variations on the original theme, Pilates remains an ideal protocol for attracting, engaging, and retaining members.

TESTIMONIALS

I have been researching a lot about dance and its benefits for all people, young or old, healthy or ill and really wanted to see if this was something I would like to pursue. Not that I doubted it, I am a dance educator and do a lot of research before I spend my money or pursue a big project.

I had expressed to them how impressed I was to find that dance and Pilates together can help heal bodies. I was especially thrilled to know that I can even bring music into a method. I had nothing but high praises about this and started mentioning about Tangolates. I talked to people about my quest to help humanity and give back by way of dance and Pilates. I have expressed to them my intention of pursuing research and education hoping I could get funding.

In my research I actually surprised myself in a way that people responded so positively to Tamara Di Tella’s Method, Tangolates. I have many friends in dance ranging from Germany, Spain, Singapore, Indonesia, China, etc. & all over the States and most of them danced, studied, taught or shared a great experience with me in dance.

Many are even famous people. Surprisingly, they also ended up being Pilates instructors and are craving to know more about my quest. I believe that because they have been dancers, they like the idea of music with Pilates, which I find lacking in traditional Pilates.

Also what is special is the cardio and partnering aspect. Since I am a professor at a university, I look into dance's profound effects and I go beyond just the dancing. This is a very good new Pilates concept. You tube has already clippings of people like Mark Morris and his dancers plus Sara Robichaud as having established programs to teach dance to Parkinson's patients. However, it seemed improvisational and not much of the rhythm that I like about Tango. I also encountered the Michael J. Fox Foundation & Parkinson's Foundation and will try to get funding.

Tangolates, the new and revolutionary method created by Tamara Di Tella inspires and excites me! I love to dance ballet and modern and I love Tango, even if I am not an expert in it! I love music, too! Tamara has discovered a great concept!

I can see why Tangolates has a lot of following. I see its great potential especially among the dance community and for dancers knowing they can transition into another career and make money and at the same time help people. The fact that Julio Bocca was a star in the U.S. and has a huge following among dancers is a great piece of marketing concept. There are so may that I know transitioned to Pilates from being great dancers and would be interested in this. Julio Bocca is a star and if I mention about him having practiced Tangolates, everyone will be interested to learn more about the method. I can't stop thinking about so many ideas that this project will bring forth.

I am a choreographer and a Pilates’ instructor and this makes me want to choreograph a contemporary piece possibly using the DI TELLA Apparatus (if I am licensed of course). What a dream it will be for me to have my own dance company. I am very excited about this. I wish to start the Tango Studio in my city which is huge! I have just spoken with someone who just bought a Dance Studio or is just starting and it is in Dallas, Texas. I have the credentials, but I need financial help. I also am a Fulbright Scholar and will be traveling to Asia in December to teach at the University there. I will be going to Spain every now and then to choreograph and teach at Ballet David Campos, which is my sister's company. Now that I have reconnected with my international friends, I may even work some choreographic projects with their dance companies and schools.

I am very, very interested and have made an effort to start networking with international friends when I heard about dance and Pilates’ fusion with music. I got thumbs up and people now have expressed to me that they want me to update them about it. I think I’d like to purchase the License first and start studying at home. I had some choreographers from Argentina who I participated with at the American Dance Festival in 1990. The famous guest choreographers were: Susanna Tambutti and Ana Maria Stekelman. He partnered Cecile, who I am sure he remembers. I was one of the soloists and then did the second cast as Myrtha.

HOW IMPORTANT IS THE CORE IN TANGO? IN PILATES?

The answer is: Fundamental. In both, Pilates and Tango. When you start learning Tango, the first thing you should do is make sure that your torso (hips, waist) remain rigid; only your legs move. The same thing applies for Pilates. Hence the famous phrase of Joseph Pilates: “rigid the core, only the legs move!”. In both, Tango and Pilates, everything rotates around your core muscles and these must be already as engaged as is humanly possible. This is one of the reasons why it is said that Pilates is a physical activity for both mind and body. The same goes for Tango.

CHANGING TIMES...
(By Tamara Di Tella)

“For the times…they are-a-changing…” sang Bob Dylan in the late sixties. And they are. Today we know that innovation is the name of the game and that the person who resists change stays behind. Take, for example, the case of Pilates.

With the discovery of the growth hormone, we learned that strength (or resistance) is more important that what Joseph Pilates believed in his time. We also know now that we keep on burning calories even during relaxation time because our metabolism keeps working and using energy even while we stay still. This, Pilates did not know. For him, anybody who remained still for a while to recover was plain lazy.

Pilates believed that the spine should always be perfectly straight. Today we know that our spine has natural curves that we ought to take into account. As I said, Bob Dylan was right, “the times…they are-a-changing…”
